Blogger Failure = Cupcake

I had a wonderful, beautiful post written yesterday. And then Blogger failed and didn't save it all, so I have to rewrite half of it before I can post it. And of course, I was mad about it so I didn't do it yesterday, and I am procrastinating today since it is nice out. So this is a make-up post. And here is a cupcake to make it all better.  =D    Be patient with me and DFTBA.

Birthday Bonanza!

Today, being June the first, is a very special day. Seventeen years ago on this day, a very special event occurred. My very best friend in the world, K, was born, and that means today was her birthday. So today we had a bit of a celebration. We had Chinese take-out food and awesome cake and the power went out for a tiny bit and we fed the birds and we played Wii a bit and it was awesome.
I got her what I hope will be a really good book, Divergent, and I also bought her, for the first time ever, manga. I usually don't buy it for her because I don't know what she likes or reads, so this time she gave me a list of series she is into and ones she would have liked. So I got her one. It felt kind of awesome. We pretty much always get each other books. I also baked her cupcakes, and I gave them out to our friends in our math class, since there is only like 9 of us in it. They were delicious, if I do say so myself: devil's food cake chocolate with milk chocolate icing and chopped up bits of white chocolate left over from my Easter candy, since I am never going to finish it.
I also got creative and nerdy and made her an acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was pretty simple, and I knew it would really make her birthday super special, since we are both Muggles (non-wizards). I just copied out Harry's letter from the first book (actually I Googled it since I don't have the first book), and made up the envelope, tracing the school logo on and sealing it with candle wax and a home-made seal (I carved the H out of an apple). Then I kind of failed at dripping the wax, but it turned out pretty good nonetheless.

Now, she also wanted helium balloons for some strange reason (not that strange, helium balloons are fun) and I just don't have those kinds of resources, nor the kind of money to get the resources for it, so to substitute and complete her birthday wish, I give her this:

And finally, because it is awesome and amazingly epic, I will leave you with The Birthday Song. DFTBA.
